Are you not receiving (alarm) notifications on your phone or tablet? Unfortunately, this is a common problem on specific device brands.
The cause is often battery saving on the device. This stops the app in the background, and you won’t receive an alarm notification. Additionally, there are a few actions you can take to potentially solve this problem.
Unfortunately, in practice, we encounter device brands & types where the alarm does not work (reliably) despite these actions. In that case, the device is unfortunately not suitable for use with MijnEigenPlan. Should it turn out that the actions have no effect, we unfortunately have to state that we cannot change anything about this. We are dependent on the development of Android or Apple.
Overview of the actions below:
- Disable battery optimization
- Do not remove the app from recent apps
- Open the app or notifications regularly
- Check settings for notifications on Android/ Samsung
- Notifications on screen, but no sound?
Actions explained:
Disable battery optimization
Go to device settings
Select ¨Battery¨
Select ¨Battery optimization¨
Find the MijnEigenPlan app
Select ¨Don’t optimize¨
Do not remove the app from recent apps We notice that some users are accustomed to removing an app from the list of recent apps. Or to regularly remove all apps from that list. The idea is that this prevents apps from running in the background and keeps the phone working faster. It often also gives a “clean” feeling for phone users. Unfortunately, removing an app from the “recent apps” list also stops the alarm function for that app. Android is designed so that apps can continue to run “in the background” without slowing down the phone and/or using battery. Therefore, it is not necessary to regularly clear the recent app list.
Open notifications regularly Are you initially receiving MijnEigenPlan notifications but then suddenly no longer? If you don’t open the notifications, the phone stops delivering them after a certain period. Therefore, it is important to regularly open the notifications.
Device-specific instructions: Samsung Under the “Device care” option, you will find (depending on the exact model) various settings that can prevent apps from functioning in the background. Ensure that background activity is enabled and add an exception for the MijnEigenPlan app. Make sure the MijnEigenPlan app is not in the “Sleeping apps” list. Go to device settings Select device care Select ¨battery¨ Select ¨app power management¨ Select ¨Apps that will never sleep¨ Add MijnEigenPlan using the plus icon
Check settings for notifications on Android/ Samsung. It’s good to know that the attached images come from the Samsung Galaxy S series. Android runs on various brands and types of phones or tablets, where the appearance might look slightly different.
How to access the settings menu: App info Press and hold the MijnEigenPlan app, and the pop-up below will appear. Click the information button indicated in the image to go to App info.

MijnEigenPlan (hidden setting) You can set a different sound than the default sound below. Also, ensure that “Allow notifications” is enabled to receive notifications. If this is disabled, you will not receive notifications on your device, even if “Allow notifications” is enabled for app notifications.
Notifications on screen, but no sound? It might be that in the device’s volume settings, notifications are turned off while the device itself has sound enabled:
To access this setting, search for volume in the settings.
